Tribal Man

I wanted to create a character that felt like he came from a real culture with a real history behind him. Stylized characters are a great test for this because you have to balance pushed, heroic proportions with anatomy that still feels believable. My main goal was making sure every detail, from the tattoos to the jewelry to the woven loincloth, looked like it belonged to him and told part of his story.

The fun part, and the biggest challenge, was the body itself. With a character wearing this little, the anatomy carries everything, so I spent a lot of time in Z-Brush refining the muscle structure and proportions until he had a strong, grounded presence. In texturing, I focused on making the skin, the gold jewelry, and the woven fabric all feel distinct from each other, so that each material reads clearly and the character feels complete from every angle.
