A coloured-pencil character study of a woman in profile, with feathers, beadwork and a fringed top. Drawn traditionally in a sketchbook as an exercise in warm palettes and ornament.

Coloured pencil gives no undo. Every shift from shadow to highlight in the hair and skin is built from layered strokes, so the blend has to be planned before the first mark.
