Antique Telephone

This project was born out of a desire to tackle a complex hard-surface challenge: blending organic, ornate historical craftsmanship with precise, mechanical industrial design. I wanted to see how far I could push the realism of contrasting materials such as aged brass, glossy enamel, and delicate gold filigree, while maintaining a clean, highly optimized pipeline ready for real-time applications.

The biggest challenge was balancing the dense decoration of the filigree elements with a strict technical budget. By focusing heavily on baking clean high-to-low poly details, I ensured that the silhouette remains crisp and deform-ready without wasting unnecessary polygons. For the texturing, I avoided generic procedural passes, opting instead to hand-paint subtle micro-scratching, dust accumulation, and realistic tarnish layers to give the asset a lived-in history.
